There are only four things you need for your skincare routine at night, (1) your products, (2) a clean washcloth, (3) a clean cotton ball, and (4) a stretchy cotton headband to pull your hair out of your face. You can find these headbands in large packs for about $5 at any drugstore, or Target, and they're nice for lounging around too!
1. Elizabeth Dehn x One Love Organics Vitamin B Cleansing Oil // My first step is applying this cleansing oil. I use just one pump, in place of makeup remover. It is super gentle, even on my eye area. It melts off all your makeup, and can double as a cleanser as well if you'd prefer to use it that way. It smells amazing, and feels lovely on the skin. Don't be afraid of using a cleansing oil if you have oily skin! After rubbing this all over my face, eyes, and neck, my makeup has completely melted off. Then, I gently rinse it off with lukewarm water. Don't use water that is too cold or too hot because it can be too harsh on your skin.
2. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser // While my skin is still damp from rinsing off the cleansing oil, I apply a very small about of my cleanser. I love this cleanser because it smells nice and fresh, and only has about 5 ingredients, so it is nice and simple for my sensitive skin. When applying cleanser, apply in circular motions and always rub upward. Rinse off with lukewarm water, patting dry with a clean washcloth (rubbing dry with a washcloth can be too harsh).
3. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Toner // After my face has been patted dry, I use my toner to clean out the last bit of makeup and gunk that could be hiding in my pores. Apply a small amount on a cotton ball and rub all over your face. Focus on the nooks and crannies you may not have gotten earlier, like the corners of your nose and your upper hairline, you'll see it on the cotton ball when you're done!
4. Kiehl's Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate // Now that my face is clean, even the deepest layers, I apply my serum. Serums are great for hydrating your skin (especially essential this time of year). This serum is also meant to decrease fine lines and rough skin to create a smooth face.
5. Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate // Apply 1-2 drops to the palm of your hand. Rub your palms together to warm up the oil. Press gently onto cheeks, forehead, and neck. Rub your fingers into your palms to retrieve what is left of the oil and gently press onto smaller areas of the skin that you couldn't get to with your palms, like chin, nose, and temples. This oil smells amazing, and does wonders for my skin overnight! I attribute a majority of my skin change to this oil, and it's partner, the Daily Reviving Concentrate that I use in the mornings.
6. Kiehl's Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment // An eye treatment is super important because your eyes are very sensitive, and they need a cream that can hydrate, while being gentle, and not migrating into your eyes. I like that this cream doesn't migrate, but other than that, I probably won't buy it again after I'm done with this jar. It feels nice and gentle, but I don't see much visible improvement in my eye area or with my dark circles. When applying eye treatment, use your ring finger to gently dab product from your inner eye to your temples. Your index finger or rubbing product in can be too harsh on your under-eyes.
7. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream // The very last step is to use a facial cream. I love this one from Kiehl's because a little goes such a long way, it has lasted me forever, and it is a great overnight solver to any of my dry patches. Make sure that you apply moisturizer in gentle circular motions, always directing motion upwards. If you want to take an extra step, pat your skin gently for a minute or two to promote lymphatic drainage. Also, don't forget your neck!
This is my current routine, but any products that work for you are a-okay! Of course, this is an extended face routine because my skin is very sensitive and needs some extra care, but if you chose a few products to use in your routine, I would say the basics should consist of a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. I also mask my face once a week with a pore-cleansing clay mask, and once a week with a different, hydrating overnight mask.
