5 Samples | First Impressions

Happy hump day! I hope you guys are having a lovely week. I've realized over the last couple weeks that my sample collection is just out of control. I have a whole bag overflowing with samples that I just haven't gotten around to trying. I decided what better way to try samples than on camera with first impressions? So, that's what we're doing today! There's a few products in here that I think are total gems and I'm so glad I broke down to try the samples. And, it's amazing what you can get for free when you search for coupon codes. I have luxury brands like Lancome and Giorgio Armani samples (always check retailmenot.com for coupons and free add-ons for any online shopping, it's my go-to).

1. Touch In Sol Feel Like Honey Moon Skin Base // This primer is meant to hydrate, give glow, and make your skin feel soft and smooth prior to applying foundation. I expected this to be extremely thick and silicone feeling because of the honey and the fact that it is meant to smooth. This was a lot less thick than I expected, and felt less like silicone than expected as well. It felt a tad tacky from the honey, if you press your fingers together with the product it will string together. A little went a very long way with this product. There are small single flecks of gold in the product as well, which aren't extremely noticeable on the skin, but not really my forte! It made my skin very soft and radiant, but I didn't feel like it did wonders for my skin, and I could've gone without the flecks of glitter. This isn't one I'll be using again, but there was nothing bad about it.

2. Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer // I had heard through the grapevine that this primer was like pure glitter, so I decided to use it above my liquid foundation on my highlight areas as a highlight. Those who spoke glitter spoke the truth! This stuff is like pure glitter. You can feel and see the flecks even once blended, this one really wasn't for me, and it is an extremely expensive product! If you like glitter, definitely give this a go, it's definitely far from subtle!

3. Lancome Dual Finish Multi-Taking Powder // While this powder was several shades too dark for my skin tone, I made it work to give it a test and I really loved it! This powder is incredible soft and blend-able, it gives the skin a beautiful finish, and I felt like it set my makeup very well for the day. If you're looking for a powder foundation, this would definitely be one I would suggest you try. It comes with a sponge, but I personally much prefer application with a large fluffy powder brush. After using this, my blush, bronzer, and powder products went on like a dream.

4. Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick 'Radish' // This was probably the product I was most excited about from these 5 samples. The Bite Beauty products have always been a favorite of mine (I love their glosses) because they use healthy edible products knowing that you'll be ingesting the products you put on your lips throughout the day. This lipstick was incredibly creamy and pigmented, and it smelled like a summer juice, like Crystal Light! The formula reminded me of the NARS Audacious lipsticks in a way, as well as their satin looking finish. This color was a stunning fuschia pink (you can see it applied and swatched in the video). I highly recommend you guys check out these lipsticks!

5. Smashbox Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer // This is the one product out of these 5 samples that I was highly convinced was a total gimmick and wouldn't work. I was insanely surprised by the results of this, I actually freak out in the video a bit. This is a very silicone feeling product that you dab onto the lips (don't rub or spread, you want to DAB or BUMP onto the lips) to create a matte finish to any satin or cream lipstick (cannot use on glosses or sheer products). This turned my satin Bite Beauty lipstick into a completely matte formula. The best part about it? It didn't feel uncomfortable and drying like many matte lipsticks can be, it left my lips so soft and comfortable. In all honesty, I was completely blown away by this product!

I hope you guys enjoyed first impressions of 5 of my many samples! To see the products and my reactions in action, check out the video! What samples do you have sitting in your makeup collection? Have you tried any of these products?
